How to Fix: Windows 11 Print Screen Not Working | ScreenShotHow
Is your PrtSc key unresponsive? Try these 5 quick fixes to get your screen shot functionality back on Windows 11 and Windows 10.
It’s frustrating when you hit the Print Screen key and nothing happens. Here are the most effective ways to fix it.
1. Check the Function (Fn) Key
On many laptops, the PrtSc key is shared with another function. You may need to press Fn + PrtSc to activate it.
2. Update Keyboard Drivers
Right-click the Start button > Device Manager > Keyboards. Right-click your keyboard and select Update driver.
3. Check for Background Apps
Apps like OneDrive, Dropbox, or ShareX often “hijack” the Print Screen key. Check their settings to see if they are claiming the shortcut.
4. Reset the Snipping Tool
Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps. Find Snipping Tool, click the three dots, select Advanced options, and click Reset.
5. Use the “Use Print Screen button to open screen snipping” Setting
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard and toggle the switch for “Use the Print Screen button to open screen snipping” to On.
