macOS offers some of the most intuitive screen shot tools built directly into the operating system. Here is how to master them.
1. Capture the Entire Screen: Cmd + Shift + 3
Pressing these three keys together will instantly take a screen shot of your entire desktop.
2. Capture a Selected Portion: Cmd + Shift + 4
Your cursor will turn into a crosshair. Click and drag to select the area you want to capture.
- Spacebar Tip: After pressing
Cmd+Shift+4, press the Spacebar. Now you can click on any specific window to capture just that window.
3. The Screenshot Menu: Cmd + Shift + 5
This opens a central toolbar at the bottom of the screen. You can capture images or record your screen as a video.
