How to Take a Screen Shot on Mobile (iPhone & Android)

Mobile screen shots are essential for sharing messages, bugs, or funny moments. Here is how to do it on the most popular devices.

1. iPhone (Face ID Models)

For iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15:

• Press the Side Button and the Volume Up button at the same time.
• Quickly release both buttons.
• A thumbnail appears in the lower-left corner. Tap it to crop/edit or swipe it away to save to Photos.

2. iPhone (Home Button Models)

For iPhone 8 and earlier, or SE:

• Press the Side button (or Top button) and the Home button at the same time.
• Quickly release both buttons.

3. Android (Most Models)

Most Android phones (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.) use this standard:

• Press the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously.
