Learn the standard methods for capturing your mobile device's screen on both iOS and Android platforms.
Mobile screen shots are essential for sharing messages, bugs, or funny moments. Here is how to do it on the most popular devices.
1. iPhone (Face ID Models)
For iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15:
- Press the Side Button and the Volume Up button at the same time.
- Quickly release both buttons.
- A thumbnail appears in the lower-left corner. Tap it to crop/edit or swipe it away to save to Photos.
2. iPhone (Home Button Models)
For iPhone 8 and earlier, or SE:
- Press the Side button (or Top button) and the Home button at the same time.
- Quickly release both buttons.
3. Android (Most Models)
Most Android phones (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.) use this standard:
- Press the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously.
- If that doesn’t work, press and hold the power button for a few seconds, then tap Screenshot.
4. Samsung Shortcuts
Samsung Galaxy devices often support gestures:
- Palm Swipe: Swipe the edge of your hand across the screen from left to right or right to left. (Enable in Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures).
- Scroll Capture: Look for the icon (two downward arrows) in the screenshot toolbar to capture long articles or web pages.
